Peter Saville Book

The Peter Saville coffee table book commemorates his career and influence in the world of design. He is a historical designer whose personality influenced his work and how he pushed the limits of graphic design through album sleeves and fashion, making him a pivotal figure in the industry. My peer and I were tasked with sharing Peter Saville’s story by designing a book that reflects the style of the designer.

The goals:

Balance stillness and movement

Create simple elegance

Allow the work to speak for itself

Cover spreads were designed to invite viewers into his story with the back and front resembling album covers.

The subtle usage of color highlights and pulls the reader into Saville’s work, allowing the reader to see his design style just by examining the images. Each content page was designed to keep his work at the focal point and let his sense of design play through.

Throughout the book, we designed a variety of visual-rest spreads that allowed the reader a visual break from reading, while still presenting Peter Saville.
